We have been having a wonderful time in Guatemala. Wednesday afternoon we visited a 70 acre coffee plantation (Finca de Dios: Farm of God). We got an excellent tour from the native in charge of processing and drying the beans and then we hiked out into the fields to see the beans growing. The slope the coffee trees are planted on is incredibly steep so it was quite a nice little hike. After we hiked back from the field we sat on the back porch with the owner and drank iced tea. She knows all about coffee and how to grow it. We both really appreciated the way she was running her business.

We went to buy pineapples one afternoon...there were about 15 little places like this along the same stretch of road.

On Monday we went along to help deliver a concrete mixer to the other side of the city...very interesting!

This is a garden at an orphanage we visited on Sunday, Casa Bernabe. They use all the food in the orphanage and are hoping to use the garden as a place to train the kids about agriculture/gardening.
