Since I haven't been working a lot over the last month or so, I was able to go to the PA Farm Show for part of the day. I always get somewhat lost when I go there because there are so many people and things have changed over the last couple of years. Here's a little story to let you know just how out of it I can be...I was looking for the butter sculpture and I thought I remembered where it was in the past. So Monica and I get to where I thought it should be and instead there is Turkey Hill stand where they are giving out free samples of Duetto ice cream. So we each had some and continued our search for the butter sculpture while looking at other displays. After a while we ended up going back past the TH stand looking for the butter sculpture. We came upon a gentlemen who asked if we needed any help, so we told him what we were looking for. He told us that if we went back toward the TH stand we would see it. I chuckled and looked at Monica...cause we had already been by there at least twice. Yeah so if we had just turned around from getting our free ice cream we would have seen the butter sculpture. Oh well!
This year as in other years, Neil and some of his students did a large display at the farm show. This year's displays focused on the "green" benefits of agriculture. Penn Manor did a display on using methane to create energy. Below you will see some pictures of the display. I think the kids learned some things but I also think that they (and their teacher) had a lot of fun "playing". Oh and Dawn the longhorn pics are for you...enjoy!
